Driving the digital decarbonization through data
Digital technology is a strategic lever for achieving the Michelin Group's decarbonisation objectives. It is therefore essential that we first and foremost control the carbon footprint of the IT services themselves.
Aguaro makes it possible to speed up data collection and analysis. We understand more quickly, we know where to act, and we can finally build effective action plans.

Challenge
Since 2019, Michelin has start on a process to measure its IT carbon footprint. Initially built on the basis of an Excel file, then an internal tool, this approach made it possible to explore methodologies, relevant boundaries and better understand the issues related to data reliability.
But a number of limitations quickly raised:
Manual, heterogeneous and time-consuming data collection
Complexity of management linked to the diversity of sources (servers, formats)
Weak agility of the internal tool, requiring constant development
Solution
Michelin chose Aguaro for :
Its ease of adoption: known interfaces, trained teams
Its ability to adapt to the gradual maturity of Green IT teams
Its built-on ServiceNow add-on version, for instant leverage of data, especially our CMDB
It took less than 3 months to install, integrate and complete the footprint. During this period :
Business rules were transferred to Aguaro
Data flows were standardised and simplified
Gaps between the two tools were analysed and explained to the teams
Results
Measurement of the entire scope of the Michelin Group's IT Department: including equipment, services, transport buildings, etc.
Accelerate the understanding of our impact and the identication of the actions
Improved data quality thanks to Aguaro that allow the involvement of technical teams
Level the Internal legitimacy for the Green IT team up
